Arrange Your Bedroom Like a Feng Shui Master
The bedroom is an important part of a person’s life. It must have all the ingredients that promote peace and harmony in the home. According to the laws of Feng Shui, conflicting elements and negative forces often create discord, disharmony and disturb the peace at home. They also lead to problems at work, affect finances, and in short everything seems to go wrong.
A few do’s and don’ts are what you need to know while decorating your bedroom. Since Feng Shui propagates the flow of positive chi or energy, everything in the bedroom must be geared towards maintaining a positive flow of energy.
What the bedroom must have:
1) A commanding bed position- If there is a single critical tip for the bedroom, it is for the bed to be placed in a commanding position not in direct line of the door, not directly under the window, approachable from both sides, and not have a mirror reflecting it. The king’s position of a bed is from where the door can be seen while lying on it. However, the feet must not be pointing to the door, since that is considered to be the coffin position. Ensure that the feet point towards any other direction.
2) The bed must have strong support at the back, which can be placed against the wall. This gives you a commanding position and provides strength to face life directly, and promotes stability, security and protection. However the headboard must not be placed against a wall shared with a bathroom.
3) Adequate lighting that can be maintained at various levels with the use of a dimmer switch is important since light is considered to be a provider of energy. Non-toxic candles are a good addition to the bedroom.
4) Soothing colors will help to create a soothing and soft ambience. This will help to divert any harsh elements and create a balance that promotes a positive flow of energy and help in bringing good sleep. The best shades for the bedroom according to Feng Shui include the skin colors that range from white to dark brown. Shades within these limits are considered to be good.
5) Hang pictures of positive images, reflecting events or things that you wish to see in your own life. Life will imitate art in the bedroom.
6) The bedroom must be far from the main entrance to the house. This brings security. Since ancient times, our ancestors also never slept near the mouth of the caves.
7) Bathroom doors must be kept closed if they are attached. This ensures that the positive energy stays in the bedroom and does not get flushed down the toilet. It helps to heal and nourish and thus preserve good health.
8 ) Romantic artwork, silk flowers and other artifacts connected to softer emotions and love must find place in the bedroom. Pink is considered the best color for love, and soft music helps create the perfect romantic ambience for couples.
9) A round mirror placed in the bedroom signifies completion and unity, and helps to keep the family united and close together.
10) Strengthen the southwestern part of the bedroom with earthy decoration pieces made from terracotta, clay or rock. This area governs married life and happiness.
Things to Avoid in the Bedroom
1) There must be no blockages in the entrance to the bedroom in the form of boxes or cartons, instead the entrance must be clear. This is essential for new opportunities to come into your life.
2) Avoid water images in the bedroom since water may lead to the “cooling” of a marriage relationship. Since water depicts more emotion, it can create emotional problems for children as well. Water can also lead to allergies, diseases like asthma and sinus problems.
3) Electric gadgets like televisions, electronic clocks and other electromagnetic fields must be kept out of the bedroom. They hamper the pattern of sleep with the electromagnetic frequencies released even when they are switched off.
4) Cover mirrors before sleeping, especially if they face the bed, since mirrors have a negative impact on relationships.
5) Never let the bed be in direct line between the door and the window since it will come in the way of the flow of positive chi.
6) There must not be any beams, chimes or chandeliers above the bed. Beams are load bearing and will weigh down a person during his sleep. They specifically exert pressure on the chest, head and body.
7) Avoid furniture with sharp corners since it is harmful. Sharp edges and corners are like bullets and poison arrows that bring in negative energy.
8 ) Avoid collecting junk in the bedroom. Clutter creates a lot of negative energy by blocking the flow of chi, and this prevents progress, leads to stagnation and disturbs sleep.
9) Avoid keeping anything under the bed, and certainly not unwanted things. Anything placed under the bed disturbs sleep, and restricts the ability of the body to get recharged with sleep.
10) Bookshelves must not be kept in the bedroom since the protruding shelves block positive energy and obstruct its flow. Their height makes energy flow upwards. The same is true for tall chest of drawers.
Once these rules have been followed, and the bedroom completed with positive elements, try observing the room from the doorway and see for yourself whether it seems soothing and clam, whether it gives a look of coziness and comfort, whether it is inviting or irritating. The answer will decide your happiness in the bedroom.droom.
